About Our Therapist

Rebecca Seamon received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1990 at Sonoma State University and a Master of Education Degree in 1999 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as an LPC Board Approved Supervisor in the state of Texas. Other certifications include Special Education Teacher, School Counselor, Imago Relationship Therapist, EMDR (Levels One and Two), and Yoga Teacher.

Rebecca worked locally for several years with adolescents and their families in the school system and juvenile services before starting her private practice in 2002. As a Special Education Teacher and School Counseling Intern at the middle school level, she worked with teens with emotional and behavior disorders, as well as serious mental health disorders. She also led counseling groups during her internship. At juvenile services, she provided in-home supervision and therapy for juvenile offenders who had mental health diagnoses. As a counseling intern, she also provided individual and family therapy for juvenile offenders and specialized in leading anger management groups for several years.

Rebecca is hard-of-hearing and fluent in American Sign Language. She has many years experience working with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in education and social services settings. For several years, Rebecca worked as an in-home Parent Advisor, helping parents of children, from birth to age three, who had hearing, visual, or physical impairments. She also had experience working with the school system as her hearing impaired son grew up. She currently has many Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients and provides therapy in American Sign Language.

Rebecca views herself as a lifelong learner. She continues to challenge herself and grow as a practitioner by seeking training in new areas. Since graduate school, she has become a certified yoga teacher and a certified Imago Relationship Therapist for couples and singles. She has also received training in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and often integrates psychotherapy with bodywork to increase mind/body/spirit healing. In addition, she has received training to be able to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in therapy, which aids clients in their recovery from trauma.

Rebecca is a current member of the Hearing Loss Association of America, Hearing Loss Association of Austin, Imago Relationships International, and the American Counseling Association. She is married and lives with her husband in downtown Round Rock.
