Holistic nutritionist in Toronto offering nervous system–informed, gut–brain support for mental health, stress, and emotional wellbeing.

Holistic Nutrition as Part of Integrative Mental Health Care

At New Pathways Therapy Centre, holistic nutrition is offered as an integrative support for mental health and emotional wellbeing, alongside psychotherapy and somatic therapy.

What we eat influences mood, energy, digestion, inflammation, and nervous system regulation. Nutrition can either support or strain the body’s capacity to regulate stress. For many people, understanding gut health and making meaningful changes requires a compassionate, individualized approach that honours both biology and lived experience.

This service is designed for adults who want to support their mental health through nourishment in a way that feels sustainable, embodied, and aligned with nervous system health.

A Nervous System–Informed, Holistic Approach

Our approach to holistic nutrition is individualized, relational, and nervous system–informed. Rather than focusing on rigid protocols or isolated symptoms, we work with the whole person—recognizing the interconnected nature of physical health, emotional wellbeing, and stress physiology.

Together, we create a plan that:

  • Respects your nervous system capacity

  • Moves at a pace that feels supportive and realistic

  • Accounts for your life context, energy, and values

When it comes to mental health, the relationship we have with food, eating, and our bodies—and how we experience safety, stress, and change—is a core part of healing.

What We Consider in Holistic Nutrition Work

Holistic nutrition looks beyond diet alone and considers the many factors that influence wellbeing, including:

  • Gut health and the gut–brain connection

  • Mental health, mood, and emotional regulation

  • Stress physiology and nervous system balance

  • Inflammation and lifestyle influences

  • Social, relational, and emotional factors

  • Sleep, movement, and stress management

  • Time, energy, and real-world constraints

This work is especially supportive for people experiencing anxiety, low mood, chronic stress, burnout, digestive concerns, or feeling “stuck” in their relationship with food and self-care.

What to Expect in Your First Appointment

Your first session includes a thorough intake to understand your current challenges, personal values, and physical and emotional health history. From there, we co-create a compassionate, realistic plan that supports your goals while meeting you where you are.

Accountability is offered in a way that is supportive rather than overwhelming, helping change feel possible rather than pressured.

Integrated Care at New Pathways

Holistic nutrition services are offered as part of New Pathways’ broader integrative mental health model. Many clients choose to work with a holistic nutritionist alongside psychotherapy, somatic therapy, or nervous system–focused work.

Nutrition can support the body’s capacity for regulation, often making therapeutic work feel more accessible and sustainable over time.

This service is provided by Natalie Singer, Registered Holistic Nutritionist.
